Anatomy of a root by renowned French naturalists Gaston Bonnier and Louis Mangin. Undated but highly likely to have been produced no later than the early 1900s.
Contemporaries of Deyrolle, Bonnier (1853-1922) was professor of botany at the Sorbonne in Paris, while Mangin (1852-1937) was a botanist and museum director.
The quality of the graphic speaks for itself and the original hangers are present. Pieces such as this are exceptionally rare to the market. The copies that do still exist are most likely to be held by museums.
The image is printed on paper and backed onto canvas, making it more robust. An area to the top right was missing and has been restored.
